Is someone getting the best, the best of you?

Napster

I've just come home from an awesome Foo Fighters concert. My voice is sooo sore from screaming and yelling but not quite as sore as my neck from ROCKING OUT. I swear the next rock concert I go to, I'm getting hair extensions just so I can pull off the hair windmill :)

The best part is it was all free, because I manage to score tickets from someone at work!

Doris and Dave both sick

After a big weekend of Games and LAN related activities, it seems that I've caught a cold from hanging out with so many nerds....But the worst part is that Doris also got sick, her power steering pump stopped working, we got it changed today but it cost $1300 *cry*. It’s cool having a new mini but they cost so much to service and fix, sometimes I wonder if its worth keeping her...

Call of Duty 4 is our new favorite game at the moment...We played it from about 3pm till 6am, aided by the massive amounts of caffeine we imbibed.

Presents for the FPC

  • Apr. 10th, 2008 at 11:21 PM
Love

I've spent a whole week looking for the FPC’s birthday present; I get very apprehensive when buying presents for other people. I figure, if I’m going spend time and money on something for someone else, the gift might as well kick some ass! Which doesn’t mean it needs to be expensive, but it dose have to bear some functional or esthetic value.

I took a quick poll of the ladies around the office, they wanted to see her get some nice flowers and dinner/movie (gold class). I’m against sending flowers at the moment for several reasons.

We haven’t been going out very long (I'm not even sure if we are going out): Hence things like jewelry and big ticket items are off. Clothes are also a big no-no, because I don’t know her size and would probably buy exactly the wrong thing, so we turn our attention to hobbies and interest.

I hosted a brainstorming session with the boys at work (graphs, diagrams and charts where involved). We came up with several good ideas…all with in the price range. But after investigating each idea in greater detail, holes start to appear, and one by one they are crossed off the list. Tonight was spent driving between different shopping centers hoping for inspiration to hit. Starved and desperate I would walk into shop after shop thinking to myself “who the hell buys this crap, how do you people stay open”. Now its 11pm the night before her birthday and I don’t have the faintest idea of what I’m going to do.

Flowers?

First date with the FPC

Fly
I'm calling it a date, it had all the basic elements of a date...
1) Boy picks up girl
2) Food
3) Dancing
4) Movie.
But there was also sunburn, getting into cars with strangers and Starwars Lego men.

As first dates go, things went pretty well.
The vibe was good, in fact we used "the vibe" to navigate our way to freo.

We stopped and had an all day breakfast at the Dome. Comfortably chit chatting away, learning random facts about each other, swapping stories about our crazy families and when is it appropriate to use Ultimate to describe something. With food in our bellies we hitched our way to the Fremantle Art Center. They had an exhibition with old toys that you could play with, all the classics where there, but my favorite was the red View Mater (featured below). Before leaving the art center to find a pub, we danced around to the country band that were playing outside.

The movie part of the date is a whole other story!

Looking for the Vibe

OMG!
I'm off to Japan in 2 weeks and it seems that I've missed place something very important. I seem to have lost my Grove. I can’t dance to save my life; it’s now a race against to capture the vibe, before my feet touch down on Japanese concrete.

Big Day Out 2008

My first ever big day out was quite a successful affair. I think mainly due to the fact that i did not drink any alcohol or caffeine the whole day, I was able to power my way through 10 hours of moshing goodness.

My line up was:
Operator Please
Gyroscope
Josh Pyke
Regurgitator
Hill Top Hoods
Grinspoon
Arcage Fire
Silverchair
Bjork
Rage against the Machine

I really enjoyed Gyroscope, Josh Pyke, HillTop Hoods and Grinspoon. I was surprised that i enjoyed Silverchair because i was never really a big fan of theirs growing up.

But for me, the main event was Rage Against the machine. I spent 6 hours camped out in the "D" waiting for my childhood idols to take the stage. Of the 6 hours that i waited, 4 hours was spent holding in a piss that had come about from drinking too much water and starved from only eating 1 meat pie all day. But I was resolute and refuse to move, just incase i could not get back in. But the show Rage put on was worth it...

They played all my favorites:
Bulls on Parade, People of the Sun, Vietnow, Take the Power Back, Bullet In The Head, War within a Breath, Sleep now in the fire, Testify, Guerrilla Radio, Bomb Track, finishing it all off with "Killing in the Name", Everyone was giving the finger screaming F*&% YOU I WONT DO WHAT YOU TELL ME!!!!

The mosh was intense, I coped a shoe to in the face, a few punches in the ribs and I was constantly crushed looking for footing...AWESOME! I kept working my way forward and was close enough to see Tom Morello work his magic on the guitar.

Snickers Golden Nut Awards

Even the with the debilitating slow speed of dial-up internet, Deb somehow managed to log onto www.Rovedaily.com and get tickets to the "Snickers Golden Nut Awards". We were one of 200 lucky people to get tickets to the perth show, treated to 10 of Perth's best young up and coming comedians all trying to get a spot on Rove Live. The competition was quite close, all 10 youngsters were really funny. However only one would win.

For some reason, we decided to sit on the front row, right at the front of the sage, so poor Deb got a bit of "Audience participation" from the nights MC. However she managed to hold her own, adding to a memorable and entertaining night.

Wheels & Dollbaby 21st Anniversary

What happens when you mix, Glam-Rock fashion with champaign and models? You get the Wheels & Dollbaby's 21st Anniversary.
However we got off to a very non-GlamRock start. The show was running woefully late due to "technical difficulties", leaving the large contingent of guest waiting outside the fashion central tent in Forrest Chase. And as the nigh sky had threatened to do all night, it began to sprinkle drops of rain, raising the stress levels of all the beautifully done up women in th crowd. The sudden urgency seemed to prompt the start of proceedings, with guests slowly let in.

Inside, surrounded by the tents red glow, The fashion go-ers found the Champaign and mingled around the catwalk, cross examining what other people were wearing. The show itself was quite good, Mark McEntee (from the Divinyls) rocked-out on the catwalk, sparking off the nights theme. It was a parade of "Clothes to Snare a Millionaire" pastel & hot pinks, corset dresses and ballet skirts!

Mikes bucks night, ticked every box, and is a shinning example of what a good bucks night should be.

1) Beer / Spirits - There needs to be at less 2 times more alcohol than can be humanly possible to consume!
2) Boobs - At some point in the night there needs to be at less 1 set (female, preferably)
3) The participants need to be left scared, both physically and mentally
4) Some form of public humiliation
5) 2 Fruit and 5 Veg :D

Sydney Swans!

I managed to score a ticket to the Swans Vs Eagles game on Saturday...It was a good hard game, the swans did well to pull it back to only 12 points at the final siren, it looked like the eagles would ran away with the game in the third quarter. After the game, me and Roger waited at the team bus (i felt like a little kid again) and watched all the players leave the ground, I even got a pick with Captain Kirk.

Me and the Captain

Then it was off to the Subi hotel to drown my sorrows with Deb and Nik.

12.00am time to go home! I got to talking to Eagle supporters that were just behind me in the line. We ended up sharing a cab since they were also going north. And in return they offered to pay for the whole cab ride :p  Free cab ride home SCORE!

History repeating...

Her long and delicate fingers lightly touch my hand, not quite holding on but then again, not quite letting go. Her soft touch is a final courtesy, comforting me, just until the gravity of her words sink in. I look down at the table, I don’t know what to say.

In a soft voice she says.
"You'll find someone else, you know that don’t you"
"But I don’t want someone else, I want you"
"Come on Dave, Don’t make this harder than it has to be"
"No, this isn’t happening, I'm not letting you get rid of me, I love you!"
"That’s the problem."

She pulls her hands away from mine, for a moment we just sit there as familiar strangers, Then i hear the chair pull out from under the table and I watch her get up and leave.
Time to choose, get up and go after her or let it all end right here right now, But before my brain gets a chance to think my feet are already moving. I’ve never been more sure about being unsure, my brain kicks into over drive searching for words to express the torrent of emotions. It shouldn’t be this hard, I catch her just out side the café….

Presents for Dave

Ok this weekend I have 3 birthdays to go to and a total of 6 for the month, this leads me to 7 questions.
1) What the hell was going on 9 months ago?
2-7) What do i get them for their birthdays?
Everyone says the don't want present and most of the time they are lying!!!
Really......!!! everyone wants presents.
I get waaay stressed about getting ppl stuff, i like getting ppl cool presents, but its hard to find the time to shop these days, what with all the sleeping and dreaming I'm Ben cousins mum and all.

This make me wonder if people know what to get me for my birthday.
I think I'm pretty easy to shop for:

1) Steady relationship with a GIRL
2) A Porsche 911
3) A holiday home in Coral Bay
4) A TARDIS
5) Sideburns like the new Dr Who (David Tennant)
